EnviroVent has been named Best Charitable Company at the 2013 Stray FM Local Hero Awards for their fund raising 25K Challenge in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice. Winning the award is the result of teamwork with everyone at EnviroVent pulling together and going the extra mile to help raise £25,000 for a very worthy cause. The fundraising included sky diving, paintballing, 10k runs, dress down days and the Great EnviroVent Bake-off.
Chief Executive of Saint Michael’s, Tony Collins, said: “We are absolutely delighted that EnviroVent’s efforts have been recognised with the Local Hero Award. The way the team worked together and threw themselves into raising £25,000 to support local people living with terminal illness and bereavement was incredible, and this award is very well deserved.”
In 2009, EnviroVent decided they wanted to give something real back to the local community, the company felt that the service and care which Saint Michael’s offered was vital to the Harrogate area, so they joined the Saint Michael’s Hospice Guild of Patrons.
Last year, EnviroVent celebrated its 25th anniversary as a British manufacturer, and to mark this occasion they stepped up their support and pledged to raise £25,000 for the hospice by the end of 2012.
To achieve this, the company set up its own in-house fund raising committee in order to focus on the task, aptly named the EnviroVent 25K Challenge. The committee set about planning events and encouraging the company as a whole to work together towards achieving the 25K goal.
By using social media, such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, the company was able to spread its message about the 25K challenge, highlighting various events and the amount raised so far.
The award was presented to Managing Director, Nick Heaton, last Friday night at a gala ceremony held at Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate.
