Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

What does corporate social responsibility mean for us?

For EnviroVent corporate social responsibility is about how we conduct business and build relationships with the world in which we operate. It is about our commitment and responsibility in terms of what is most important to us - our shareholders, employees, customers, suppliers, environment, community and ethics at the heart of our business. It is our quest to minimise any negative impacts on our activities in continuing to strive for positive outcomes, which enables sustainable development for both EnviroVent and the wider world around us.

Our corporate social responsibility is set out in seven underlying policies which relate to:

Our ethics

Our ethics mirror our entire business philosophy, from the way we behave, do business, treat one another and where we place our values.

Every EnviroVent employee should:

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect
  • Listen carefully to each other and other stakeholders
  • Encourage a working environment that is honest, responsible and respectable to generate trust.
  • Treat the company’s property and equipment as you would your own
  • Promote sustainable working practices to minimise impact on our environment

Customers

Our business and livelihood depend upon our customers. EnviroVent’s purpose for being in business is to listen and understand their needs and then exceed their expectations before, during, and after the delivery of our product and service, and to do it better than any other company in our industry.

We are constantly improving our reputation as a specialist, caring company by providing “added value” for our clients at every opportunity. We aim to further develop state-of-the-art technology to serve the quality and delivery needs of our customers.

Employees

EnviroVent has over 150 employees operating in a wide number of fields both internally and externally, from engineers and installers to production personnel, office-based staff and field sales teams. EnviroVent recognise that our employees are the drivers in enabling us to grow and be successful. We are greatly committed to enhancing skills, development and motivation with the aim of building the best team that achieves our goal of becoming the market leader.

  • Diversity
Everyone has a part to play in welcoming diversity and opportunity. We do not discriminate against employees on the basis of gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, marital status or religious belief. By valuing our diverse workforce, we enhance our creativity, ability to adapt to change and increase our performance.
  • Employee development
Through developing every EnviroVent employee we ensure that we nurture the talent we have within our company. Our aim is to empower and motivate our people, to give them support and confidence to take their own decisions, which in turn will drive the company forward. A regular appraisal programme taking place twice a year reviews performance and progress, whilst highlighting any training needs required.

We spend around £250,000 on training each year. Learning and development programmes span a wide range of competencies to include training and qualifications in Health & Safety, NICEIC, Association of Accounting Technicians and a number of Chartered Institute qualifications. In addition, the ‘Management for Results’ programme provides valuable training for senior and middle management.
  • Employee engagement
We strive to create a working environment where employees are informed and involved in company activities.
  • Reward
EnviroVent recognises that offering the right rewards help us to attract, motivate and retain the best people.

Shareholders

EnviroVent strives to promote shareholder value by working actively to achieve our long-term goals and market leadership. This will enable us to deliver sustained returns for all our Shareholders. We seek to anticipate future scenarios, new regulations and market trends to ensure the development of our future business.

Environment

EnviroVent’s ethos revolves around delivering sustainable products that are built to last the life cycle of a building. Not only do our products minimise environmental impact but our business processes do too.

  • Improving energy efficiency
At the heart of every product in the Lifetime Range® lies the EnviroVent Ultra Low Watt DC/EC Motor. This eco technology allows fans to operate using the lowest possible energy, generating efficient power and thereby reducing carbon emissions.
  • Increasing reuse and recycling, reducing waste
In order to reduce the impact of plastics going to landfill, EnviroVent has taken the responsibility to recycle old, existing traditional extract fans when they are replaced by our products. This involves the products being ground down and remoulded into plastic parts for other ventilation products within the Lifetime Range®, such as heat recovery units and whole house ventilation systems. By carrying out this process, EnviroVent is ensuring that these plastics should never end up on landfill sites.

EnviroVent is compliant with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (WEEE).

All Lifetime Range product packaging is already 80% recycled, stamped with clear instructions to return it to the factory to be recycled/reused or to recycle it themselves.

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by encouraging staff to recycle using the recycling bins provided in every department.

Suppliers and partners

Our suppliers play a vital role in EnviroVent’s production and services. As a UK manufacturer we recognise that local sourcing has a great impact on supporting the local economy and community. With this in mind we endeavour to choose local suppliers, which in turn help to reduce our carbon footprint. We are committed to working with suppliers who ensure the welfare of workers and exceed recognised standards.

At EnviroVent we believe that our business partnerships are long-term commitments and are a fundamental part of the way we do business. Through building ‘value-chains,’ we work to support suppliers and sub-contractors so that we can improve the way we do business.

Health & Safety

Safety and security is a highest priority at all times for employees and customers. We strive to provide a safe, healthy and secure working environment and are committed to continuous improvement in Health and Safety policies and training.

Community

EnviroVent works with over 500 Housing Association Bodies and communities on a daily basis – all of which are recognising the clear benefits brought by installing EnviroVent products. In addition, we support the local communities in which we operate through employing local installers and engineers. We also educate Tenant Management Organisations in solving condensation problems and promoting health. We are committed to supporting various charities including St Michael’s Hospice and MacMillan Cancer Research.
