What Causes Asthma In The Home?

Asthma is a condition caused by an inflammation of the bronchi which are the small tubes which carry air in and out of the lungs. When an asthma sufferer comes into contact with something that irritates their lungs, the muscles around their airways will tighten and become narrow, swollen and inflamed triggering an asthma attack.

Air Pollution

Air pollution can affect allergy and asthma sufferers and can be both indoor and out. Indoor pollutants such as pet dander and mould can be severe allergy triggers. Likewise for asthma sufferers spending time with a pet every week could cause an asthma attack due to the proteins found in pet dander.

The only way to alter your home wall to wall and make it a safer environment for allergy and asthma sufferers is to install a ventilation system.

The Difference Between Ventilation and Air Conditioning

The major difference between air conditioning and ventilation is the fact that air conditioning does not use an external source to function, in most cases. Instead, air conditioning takes the air already inside a space to heat or cool it, depending on your settings. It will then recycle the air back into the room. This will be continually repeated until you have either a warm or cold room.

This means that harmful toxins, pollens or other air pollutants are not removed from the air and are simply cycled back into the room periodically. As such, it’s often the case that air conditioning is more appropriate for shops and non-industrial workspaces which do not rely on a system to ensure the air in a space remains as safe as possible. Air conditioning is commonly used in a building with little or no windows, for example a shop or restaurant in a large department store.

A ventilation system works to purify the air inside. The air comes from outside, mixes with indoors air and then removes air at the same time.

Why Installing a Ventilation Solution Could Reduce Your Asthma Symptoms

If you do suffer from asthma then it is worth investing in a whole house ventilation system which will bring in a constant flow of fresh, filtered, clean air into your home and reduce the allergens that are found in the air.

Our products can help alleviate the symptoms of asthma and dust mite allergies by reducing the triggers. Our ventilation systems can provide continuous all year round ventilation to reduce humidity levels within the home.
