Blossom Street in Manchester is the latest phase of town houses and apartments to benefit from EnviroVent MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) systems.

Here, there are 199 new build dwellings, ranging from one bedroom apartments to three bedroom town houses in an urban area in Ancoats, north of Manchester city centre.

EnviroVent’s energiSava 250 units were specified by main contractor Ameon because they offered versatility with wall hung, ceiling and floor mounted options. They were also selected as the units are highly efficient, yet compact in design, which is important in these apartments where space is at a premium. The fact that they could also be supplied with right hand or left hand orientation was a major bonus as it minimised cross-over of ducting and ensure maximum performance of the unit.

Although the units were installed by Ameon, EnviroVent provided support with system design and specification through BIM and technical support, via its dedicated helpline staffed by qualified engineers.

The same type of innovative MVHR units from EnviroVent have been utilised on previous developments, including Blossom Iron, Jersey Street, Weavers Quay and Avesta Street.

Richard Carter, Regional Sales Manager for EnviroVent, explains: “We have supplied over 1,000 MVHR units so far for this development in Manchester and the feedback has been very positive. We provide a high level of customer service to contractors and developers which sets us apart and our systems are renowned for being energy efficient and low maintenance.”

EnviroVent’s energiSava 250 units feature an intelligent vapour tracking humidity control (Intellitrac®), which constantly monitors the humidity levels in the dwelling and reacts instantly to even the most minor of changes in humidity levels. The system does not wait until a room has reached a fixed level of humidity (typically 70%) before increasing the airflow rates. EnviroVent’s energiSava system also reduced the load on the space heating as the incoming air is tempered by the heat recovery units, which reduces the need to re-heat incoming air, therefore saving on heating bills.

The energiSava 250 units will ensure that there is a supply of fresh, clean air, providing a healthier living environment for occupants and preventing issues with condensation and mould growth. Each unit has a five year warranty, which is supported by EnviroVent’s team of in- house engineers.

Ameon, explains: “We have specified EnviroVent’s systems for many years, so were aware of the high performance and low maintenance of the units and the technical support that the company provides. These are highly energy efficient and airtight apartments and townhouses, so it was essential that we chose ventilation systems which we were sure could provide good indoor air quality throughout.

Blossom Street is located in the heart of the Ancoats Conservation Area and features well located, high quality homes, which is helping to meet Manchester’s demand for rental accommodation. Ancoats is emerging as a desirable residential negihbourhood within easy reach of the city centre’s employment, amenities and transport networks.
