Decentralised Mechanical Extract (d-MEV)

Decentralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation (d-MEV) fans are continuously running, two-speed single-room extract fans. They are used to continuously remove stale, moist air from specific areas of a building and can include humidity and usage sensors. These are installed in each wet room, typically through-wall, although there are options to ceiling mount and, in some cases, window mount these fans where appropriate. d-MEV units are usually offered in a 100mm size and have low noise levels with a variety of features including a timer, humidity sensor, pullcord, PIR sensor and innovative on-unit displays.

These units are designed to be flexible, with each fan able to meet the requirements of differing airflows in every wet room, from 13l/s for a kitchen to 8l/s for a bathroom or utility room and 6l/s for a toilet, providing a uniform approach to ventilation. There is a small amount of background ventilation required, totalling 4000mm² per habitable room, to cover areas not directly ventilated by the units.
