For the second year running, Harrogate in North Yorkshire has once again gained the top spot in the Rightmove Happy at Home index out of 111 places for the happiest place to live in Great Britain. The report was compiled from 50,000 people who were asked to rank how happy they feel in their homes and communities. Harrogate is a fantastic place to live and work and is one of the most beautiful towns in the country. We are proud to be a manufacturer based in Harrogate and to be part of the community.

To celebrate this great achievement for the town we asked our staff at head office to share their favourite locations in and around the Harrogate area:

1. Bettys Café Tea Rooms is a Yorkshire institution, a family business which offers a traditional tea room where customers are greeted by a variety of delicious meals and confections. There are now two tea rooms in Harrogate, one on Parliament Street and another at RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.

2. Brimham Rocks is part of the National Trust and can be found just outside of Harrogate. A natural wonder which has plenty of interesting walks and rocks to climb - a great day out for all the family!

3. If the sun is shining then the Valley Gardens is a beautiful park to visit in Harrogate. This is perfect for a relaxing day out with the family and has something for everyone. The outdoor play area is very popular with families with younger children and the pitch and putt, disc golf and crazy golf are great if you have older children. With 17 acres of gardens and woodland there is a lot to explore and keep everyone happy.

4. The Royal Pump Room Museum is a small but informative museum. The Royal Pump Room sits over the Old Sulphur Well which was said to have healing qualities, as part of the museum you get a tour of the wells which are underneath the museum.

5. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Harrogate, the Old Swan Hotel is the perfect location within easy walking distance of many local tourist spots. The Grade II listed hotel is steeped in mystery and when the author Agatha Christie suddenly disappeared from her home in 1926 for eleven days, she was found at the Old Swan Hotel which then was called the Swan Hydropathic Hotel.

6. If you like English Gardens, RHS Harlow Carr Gardens is a must. The garden is well maintained and beautifully set out when all the flowers are in bloom. A great location if you have a couple of hours to spare and fancy walking through the gardens and woodland. Bettys Café Tea Rooms can be found at the entrance and serves an excellent range of food.

7. If you intend to spend a night in Harrogate, make sure you book to see a show at the Royal Hall Theatre which is a Grade II listed theatre. Originally called the Kursaal, the name was changed to the Royal Hall during the First World War to reflect a more patriotic position. The theatre has shows and performances all year round and has been restored to its former glory.

If you do visit Harrogate we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we love living and working here.
